About Us

Today’s Freeman Family Funeral Homes & Crematory started as D.B. Wilson and Son Undertakers well over 100 years ago. The founder, David B. Wilson, was born in Montgomery County, Ohio in 1836. In 1880, Wilson began an entirely different career by opening an undertaking business, located at the site of the present-day post office on East Washington Street. The business underwent many changes over the years and remains locally owned and operated to this day.

Today our main goal is serving the needs of each family, from traditional to unique. Adding to the uniqueness of Freeman Family, is the Tombstone Hearse (motorcycle), two horse-drawn hearses (adult and child size), and the first crematories (human and pet) in Shelby County. We recently added a new LED sign in front of the Harrison Street mansion; this signage has the capability of announcing visitation and funeral arrangements, as well as Community events.

Our mission statement "History was made... Memories are preserved... and Promises are Kept” describes the work ethic of the staff at Freeman Family Funeral Homes.
